My family has been seeing Dr. Weaver for years for orthopedic as well as a primary physician. So when he went to Direct Medical we liked the concept, but were nervous about making the leap. I can honestly say we couldn't be happier. Having direct access to a physician that takes a personal interest in his patients, that doesn't rush you out the door, or make you wait hours in a Dr office to be seen. The way healthcare should be!
We have been patients of Dr Weaver for several years. He reminds us of the old-fashioned country doctor, in that he takes the time to get to know you and doesn’t push 50 people a day thru the office! His practice is a little “out of the box” in that he does not take insurance. Rather, he is a direct care provider in that he charges a flat rate on a monthly basis. This flat rate gets you 24/7 access to the doctor. And yes, he will come in after hours to see you if needed. (Try doing that with any other Dr!) When my company’s insurance coverage changed, it gave us the opportunity to open an HSA, with a high deductible insurance plan. By having the difference go into the HSA, we actually come out ahead!

Dr Weaver is skilled in sports medicine. I have arthritis in both knees. Occasionally I have Cortisone injections. With Dr Weaver, my out of pocket is only for the medicine. And that cost is substantially less than my out of pocket would be using health insurance!
But again, the biggest reason my family sees Dr Weaver; he takes the time to listen and treats the whole patient!

Coastal Direct MD is not insurance. It is a Direct Patient Care (DPC) practice. DPC is an innovative model of healthcare that places the focus back on the doctor-patient relationship. This is accomplished by removing the barriers and bureaucratic red tape of an insurance based practice. We offer simple, affordable, transparent and efficient care for adults and children. We provide a full range of Primary care/Family Medicine, Sports Medicine, Regenerative Medicine services for a low monthly membership fee paid directly to the practice.

How does a Coastal Direct MD differ from a traditional primary care practice?

We choose to work directly with the our patients, providing high quality patient-focused healthcare.

We are an “outside the box”, insurance-free practice that is passionate about keeping up to date with the most cutting edge advances in healthcare. Are you tired of the status quo in healthcare? You will love us. Are you more interested in natural approaches first and prescription drugs only when other options have failed? Welcome to Coastal Direct MD.   • *At this time, we are not able to provide routine vaccinations for young children but we will be happy work with you to arrange these.

What happens if I need to see a specialist or go to the hospital?

By providing superb care with unprecedented access, we seek to prevent or reduce hospitalizations and specialty referrals. In instances where those types of care are required and we are unable to take care of your healthcare needs in-house, we will refer you to the best specialists in the area. We know which doctors are the finest experts in each field and we have the freedom to send you wherever we believe you will receive the best care for your given medical condition. We will also provide e-consults with specialists through Rubicon MD (in the future) at no additional charge to members.
